The Script For Today's Comic!

Scene:
Tanner is sitting down at the coffee shop, looking sad. Izzy comes up to the table, looking wary – she’s not sure what to make of this meeting – but doesn’t sit down right away.

TANNER: Hey, Izzy.

IZZY (a little stiffly, unsure): Hey, Tanner.

TANNER: …I wasn’t sure if you were going to show. It’s been a week….

IZZY: Tom really went to bat for you.

TANNER: (pause) Look, I just wanted to say that I was sorry for blowing our date like that. When I see Ann, I get really… really stupid. And I don’t mean to, but….

IZZY (sitting down, making a decision): You know what? I don’t want to hear it.

TANNER: You don’t?

IZZY: Thing is, Tanner, I like you. It took me a second to figure out where you were coming from, but… You like the same movies that I do, and we have the same sense of humor, and you do the same thing that I do with stories.

TANNER: What’s that?

IZZY: Whenever something really humiliating happens to you, you turn it into a funny anecdote so you can tell it at parties.

TANNER (embarrassed): So am I on your playlist yet?

IZZY (enthused): You kidding? “The worst date I ever had” is my most-requested story yet! Friends are calling in from all over to hear it!
