Rules of engagement
Many thanks to Corrado for telling me about the bizarre world of hardcore rolepayers' pre-arranged pvp. I made up the rule about the pointy hats but the rest is true (well, they aren't called L.A.M.E. either). Other fascinating rules include emoting metallic noises if you are wearing plate, pretending that you haven't seen a guy sneaking on you if the characters' line of sight is blocked, announcing your intention to attack someone by shouting "Halt!" or "You're under arrest!", stopping before running through someone if the game has no collision detection, and so on. And I bet that you thought that I was making this shit up!
