A few years ago I was watching another world cup, shouting "dai! dai! dai!" at the tv ("come on! come on! come on!" in Italian), when my then-roomie walked in and asked, "ok, I have to ask - why do you want them to die?". Dai and die are pronounced the same, it must have sounded really weird to him.
