You're a Listener and you don't get it...

You know that stupid song by Afroman
called "Because I got High"? That's what we're making fun of
here. But the real point of the toon is, lately anytime a disaster
happens people rush to put together "tribute" songs, usually a
contemporary song with news clips sprinkled throughout designed to make
you cry. Or, someone who has no chance of ever getting signed by a
record label will go in the studio and record a patriotic tune and make
it available to us in radio "at absolutely no charge"! People
will even go so far as to mass-email these songs to make it appear like
it's a grassroots  movement to get you to play their tribute song!
The recent tragedy in America was the worst we have ever seen, and ditto
for the shameless self promotion of patriotic recordings. The last time
we looked there were 58 tributes available for download on one site,
everything from Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA"  to
Moby's "Porcelain"(!). We just hope that this doesn't lead to
more violence as listeners start bombing radio stations.

Give time. Whatever you decide to do, do it until it hurts. Ourselves, we

      Cross.
