The reek of the guards floated down the hallway as the sound of boots became louder. The guard in the hall snapped to attention as a small group of orcs entered the hall. Leaning forward Gernodt strained to hear what they were saying. "...real fighter she is, took out Jerm one swipe. Great arm... body too, HAR HAR..." "What cell put her in? Wit ugly? Heh! Heh! e's chained to the wall...'at be torture fer me too..." The orcs came towards Gernodt and he quickly feigned unconsciousness. A loud clank echoed through the prison along with the telltale noise of the cell door opening. A bundle was carried into the cell and deposited on the floor out of reach from Gernodt. "Ain't she a beaut...out cold she is" The orcs grinned at each other slyly, then proceeded to fumble with their trousers. The orcs were so intent on their actions that they did not hear Gernodt grunt as he strained mightily against his bonds in fury. Gernodt's muscles bulged alarmingly as he slowly proceeded to pull out the blocks holding him to the wall. Grod looked up briefly as he tugged down his trousers. Catching sight of Gernodt, his eyes bulged and his jaw dropped "Ugh, Hobs!!" "Go 'way! Busy!". Grod jabbed Hobs with his elbow. "Ugh, Hobs!!!!", the orc repeated his exclamation with more enthusiasm, and began to scramble behind Grod. "Grod!! Be...", Hobs looked up as Gernodt, with a loud crunching sound, ripped out a chunk of stone from the wall, freeing one arm. Both orcs' eyes widened in alarm and they stared in astonishment as, with a loud crack, the second manacle snapped. With squeals of terror the two orcs turned to run...proceeding only to fall flat on their faces from the trousers about their feet. Grod quickly snatched his trousers and hiked them up as he lunged towards the cell door. Hobs pulled himself up and tried to run, again tripping over his trousers. Large hands grabbed the back of his shirt and hoisted him off of the floor. Suddenly Hobs was airborne and the wall was looming before him. With a resounding CRUNCH Hobs collided with the wall and slid down into a heap at the bottom. Grod managed to pull his pants up to a point that allowed him to run...he never looked back. A few minutes later more than a dozen armoured guards approached the cell carefully, swords pointed before them. Gernodt was found seated in front of the girl guarding her, the cell door was closed and locked. The guards argued amongst themselves for a few minutes. "*You* chain 'im", an orc commanded. "Not me! Your superior I is! *You* chain!", said a larger orc. "No! Dorf chain!", a third orc exlaimed, pointing at a wide-eyed orc. "Dorf not know how!", the orc claimed innocently, backing away. The bickering continued, with no volunteers emerging. Gernodt could not help but smile as the group of guards dispersed, none brave enough to venture in the cell with Gernodt unshackled. Patiently, he waited for the beautiful raven-haired girl to awaken. *************************************************************************** This story is a collaboration of seven people: one German, two Canadians and four Americans.
