DEATH VALLEY DECEPTION
Clemson, S.C. | Sept. 17, 1988
Bobby Bowden calls them barnyard plays, and none ruffled feathers like this one. The Seminoles, tied 21-21 at No. 3 Clemson, lined in punt formation at their own 21. As the punt team faked a bad snap and moved right, upback Dayne Williams put the ball between his legs. LeRoy Butler took it and sprinted left 78 yards to the Tigers 1. Florida State won, 24-21, and the puntrooskie became instant legend.
