a word from your blog girl
aug.17.09Update!Thanks so much to everyone who came out for the get-together in Rochester last night; we had a blast! And likewise to those who stopped in for the signing at The Beguiling. All the gifts (fan art, booze, even a cactus!) were soooo sweet and thoughtful. I have some awfully nice readers. :) Today I'm heading down to Easthampton, Mass where some fabulous fellow webcartoonists work and reside. If you want to follow the action, I'll be posting stuff on Twitter (sorry for the recent lag in tweets; Canada did not want me to have access to the Internet!) And in case you missed it, Eric Millikin contributed a piece of McPedro art last week, but I had a helluva time putting it up over the weekend. So, enjoy!
aug.06.09Meeting with my... peepsHey Montreal! I'm leaving tomorrow (Friday) to visit you. YES YOU. Sohmer has graciously offered space at Blind Ferret for me to host a small GWS signing. We'll be doing it on the morning of the BFE studios tour (Saturday), so be sure to stop in and pick up your copy of GWS when you're done checking out the place! Times TBA. And hey Rochester! I'm getting a hell of a response from you about a possible fan get-together.
will you be around next weekend? I'll be in town the 15th and 16th (Saturday and Sunday) and would love to see you guys.
Does Boulder Coffee (same place we had the last one) sound good to you? I'll be hammering out the details tomorrow.
Might even sucker some of my local artist friends into joining me. I'll keep you posted!
More soon! Muah!
aug.03.09A GWS near you.So I'm typing this from Rochester right now, where I'll be for a few days working with artists Jason Yungbluth and Kevin Serwacki. This is my first leg of a five-city studio tour! I know, I never tell you guys anything. I'll be in Montreal this weekend joining Lar & Sohmer of Least I Could Do for their fan meet-up, then Toronto to watch fabulously talented artists from Transmission-X and beyond. The following week I'll be returning to NEWW home, Easthampton Mass, to find out if I can absorb the powers of several well-known and well-loved webcartoonists there. Then NYC for one hot night, and finally back home (just in time to travel to NC for a wedding!). I'm starting to feel like Meredith Gran or Jennie Breeden. Apparently us femme cartoonists really like to travel. I'll be doing two signings in Toronto next week (see my schedule at far right!) and am looking forward to meeting some of you Canucks! I'll keep you updated. It's 4 in the damn morning and I'll make much more marshmallow toilet rub sense tomorrow.
Hey, here's an interview at Fandomania.com! july.20.09Some of my favorite Guest Book entries toMaureen & Jameson... (Meredith Gillis ~ July 18th, 2009)
(Davan MacIntire ~ July 17th, 2009)
(Amanda, July 17)
(Holy shit, that's the best relationship advice I've ever heard and it came from a teenager. Way to recognize good advice when you hear it, girl!) You can add a message to Jameson & Maureen too if you'd like. :)
july.15.09Hey kids, interviews!Hey, do you like interviews? I have a few.
And a bouncy personal one at Comic Book Catacombs. (Just added!) And one more at The Xcentrikz.
In honor of GWS joining the LICD meet-up in Montreal this summer, I'm finally sharing my FAVORITE piece of Hazel and Jamie fanart, supplied by none other than Lar DeSouza himself!
Clicky for biggy.
july.03.09LICD/GWS meet-up in Montreal this August!Okay, so GUESS WHAT MONTREAL?! I'm gonna be all up in ya' August 6-10th, eh! The LICD boys have invited me to come enjoy their Least I Could Do soirée this summer, and I'm planning a studio hop around it. Montreal, Toronto, Rochester and hopefully Easthampton, Mass. Are you ready for me? Of course not. Who in the world is ready for this much Corsetto. I don't know what happens at a fan meet-up, but I'm excited. I hear Lar is gonna give me a lap-dance. And there's supposed to be bowling? Crazy I tell you. Also, the auction for Monday's hee-larious strip is ending today! Last chance to bid!
I fucked up big; I normally sell the big strips for $100-150, and right now this auction is at a super-cheap $65.
No more eBay auctions for me. So get it cheap while you still can!
june.30.09Pirates are so OUT.In case you want Monday's comic, it's right here!
june.16.09Miss Twinkle PawsI forgot to credit Joel Watson with his contribution to the strip: Miss Twinkle Paws. I asked Twitter what our crazy hippie health food lady would name her kitty. His made me giggle. And in case you couldn't really see Miss Paws:
june.15.09Heroines at Heroes!Hey, if you're coming to Hereos Con next weekend in North Carolina, I'll have some sweet new prints for you. Behold, Hazel and Jamie rummage through their closets to transform into... really super cute Hazel and Jamie: The print looks really sweet and there will only be a limited amount printed, so if you want one come see me first thing! This piece was created specifically for Heroes (it's in the program book), and the original watercolor will be available for sale as well! And just how will you find me? I'll be next to a giant stuffed cactus in Indie Island, straight in the back of the convention hall.
Feel free to take your photo with McPedro! But beware, he's a groper.
june.11.09AfterEllen.comHey, I got a super-sweet little review of Jamie's sexcapades (abstinencescapades?) at AfterEllen.com yesterday!
If you haven't seen the site before, it's worth a look. I for one have a total girl-crush on Rachel Maddow, and they have frequent "RachelWatch" articles on their site.
*swooooon!*
june.01.09Happy as a...For everyone who couldn't quite find the right "Congratulations you're in love with a chick" card for their favorite lesbian/bisexual gal, now you can say it with grace and style. Especially grace. And style. The cards will be ready to ship in two weeks (June 15th) and are 5.5x8.5". They'll be mailed in a 6x9" envelope with their own 5.75x8.75" white envelope enclosed for the card. I'm only making 50 of these for now, so act fast!
